The rug features a yellow field with a central tree design that is depicted in various colors, such as green, blue, and red. The edges are a rich blue color that beautifully contrasts with the yellow field. This design is known as Derakhti, which means “tree” in Persian, and is a popular motif in Persian rugs. Trees represent growth, stability, and longevity, and are often incorporated into rug designs as a symbol of these qualities. The rug is from Tehran and measures 320 by 223 cm and dates to around 1930.
